Scrapbook of attended events

So, my eldest neice, Anna, is in college in New York, and she is studying theater. As you can imagine, she goes to lots of public performances: plays and shows and concerts and the like. And she is also heavily involved in staging events like those.

This year, I’ve been enthused about making fabric journals. Now, Anna took up scrapbooking in high school (as a result of a clever teacher’s senior-year-scrapbook assignment). But realistically, she probably doesn’t have much time for it, these days.

What better way could there be, to commemorate her favorite events and performances, than to create a special scrapbook for that purpose? To make it quick and easy, I gave her a package of small translucent envelopes. She can tuck each ticket into an envelope, stick it on a blank page, and also record her answers to several key questions:

  • Who attended with her?
  • What did they do before and after the show?
  • What was/were  her favorite lines or scenes?
  • What else was memorable about the performance?

This was another journal inspired by Teesha Moore’s enchanting fabric books. (My first fabric journal was a wedding album for my cousin. You can find more Teesha Moore how-to info over at that prior post.) This time, the book opens at the middle and there are two bound edges.

The idea is that the pages would alternate — first one on the left, and then one on the right, etc.

One of my favorite things about the journal is the fancy trimming on the spines.

They are a combination of beads, old earrings, and ribbons.

Here is what the back looks like:

Another aspect that I love, is the irridescent evening sky.

I hope she enjoys it and fills it with lots of happy memories!
